Adoption Process

Step 1: Picking your Bird

Which Bird is right for me?

Owning a bird is a big responsibility and your decision on which type of bird must be based on a variety of factors. If you're new to birds, don't have a lot of room, or have young children, you may want to look at adopting something smaller and easier to care for, such as Parakeets, Lovebirds, or Cockatiels. If you are experienced with birds and have an ample amount of space and stability at home, then you may want to look at rescuing our Macaws, Amazon Parrots, or African Greys. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind before deciding on getting a bird.

  • How much experience do you have with birds?

  • How much time do I have to devote to the animal?

  • Do I have the money to pay for its care?

  • Is my living situation stable?
